 To list volunteer opportunities:

Step 1: Register or log in
Step 2: Click “opportunities” on the left
Step 3: Click “create new opportunity” at the top
Step 4: Fill out the form, the system will walk you through
Step 5: Click “submit” and make sure you check your email- the system will alert you when a volunteer signs up. Then you can use the volunteers’ contact information to follow up with them.

Note: Please do not list requests for monetary or in-kind donations on our 1-800-Volunteer.org site. These postings will not be approved. If your agency needs a particular in-kind donation click here to list it on the Agency Wish List.

Herald Sun/News and Observer Listings
If you would like your opportunity listed in the Durham Herald-Sun in the Sunday Metro Section, or the Durham News distributed on Wednesdays by the News & Observer, please submit a 2-3 sentence description of the opportunity to Corinne@thevolunteercenter.org. Please also list contact information, and post your opportunity in 1-800-Volunteer. This service is only open to agencies registered with The Volunteer Center.

Monthly Calendars
Does your agency have a one-time opportunity for volunteers? We are looking for volunteer opportunities that require no long-term commitment for our busy volunteers. Each month we put out two calendars, one for students and one for adults, that list easy, one-time opportunities they can get involved in.

Opportunity Spotlight
If you would like your opportunity spotlighted in our monthly Volunteer Newsletter which goes out the 1st of every month, please submit a description of the opportunity, a 2-3 sentence statement about your organization's mission, and opportunity contact information to corinne@thevolunteer.org. This recruitment option fills up fast and there is only room for one per newsletter, so advance notice is appreciated!

Volunteer Fairs
The Volunteer Center hosts Volunteer Fairs throughout the year at different locations. This is an opportunity for your organization to meet and advertise to potential volunteers. See below for the current list of dates.

   September 16th, 2010 Noon - 3pm
   *You must be a member agency of The Volunteer Center to register, if       you are not a member agency please contact Corinne Everett.
