The Triangle Nonprofit & Volunteer Leadership Center

Civic Engagement Leadership Institute (CELI)

July 22 - 26, 2024

About the Award

About The Program
The Civic Engagement Leadership Institute is an intensive summer enrichment experience that empowers high school students to impact Triangle communities through socially conscious thought and action.

By exploring the root causes of social issues, working with nonprofit agencies, and formulating service projects, students will develop a combination of knowledge, skills, values, and motivation to help shape the future of the Triangle and beyond.

How can you become a change agent in your community?

This leadership camp is an intensive summer enrichment experience that helps high school students answer these questions and empowers them to impact Triangle communities through socially conscious thought and action. Students explore social issues, work with nonprofit agencies, and formulate service projects. Students will develop a combination of knowledge, skills, values, and motivation to help shape the future of the Triangle and beyond.

Graduation includes a Capstone Project presentation by student teams that addresses a community need – Think “Shark Tank”! A panel of community judges will evaluate presentations and select the winning team.

Health & Wellness

Students are not required to have a COVID vaccination to attend camp. Any student who has COVID-19 symptoms or known exposure to COVID-19 will be required to stay at home until the symptoms have passed. The student will be required to provide results of a negative COVID-19 test before returning to the site or beginning of any camp.

If a student becomes sick during camp a family member will be contacted. If the student is not feeling better after having the opportunity to rest, you will be asked to pick-up your child. We will also try to find a place to rest that is isolated from the other children. Additionally, if your child demonstrates COVID-like symptoms (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, gastrointestinal issues, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea) during the program they will also be moved to an isolated location and the family will be notified for immediate pickup. Once a family member has been called, the parent or emergency contact must pick up the student within 60 minutes.

Please submit the negative test results to Alice Smith, Community Programs & Operation Manager. Email – Alice@TNVLC.onmicrosoft.com or call (919)321-6926.
