The Civic Engagement Leadership Institute (CELI) is an intensive summer enrichment experience that empowers high school students to impact Triangle communities through socially conscious thought and action.

What do students do at CELI?

The Civic Engagement Leadership Institute (CELI) is a dynamic summer program for high school students focused on understanding and addressing community challenges across the Triangle. Participants examine the foundations of a strong civil society, hear directly from community leaders, and collaborate with local nonprofits to develop service-driven solutions.

Students also receive training in crafting and delivering effective presentations, preparing them to pitch their ideas with confidence. The program culminates in a team Capstone Project, presented “Shark Tank”–style to a panel of community judges who evaluate proposals addressing real community needs.

The Civic Engagement Leadership Institute will be held at Duke Corporate Education.
